Take fun seriously

Everyone these days is constantly chasing productivity, but the vast majority doesn't really take the time to schedule their free time and enjoy It to the fullest. People tend to either fill It with more work or spend It on non energy-consuming activities.

In this article I will explain why you need to go ALL IN when It s time to have fun.

Two types of entertainment

There are two ways in which you can spend your free time. You can do non energy-consuming activities like scrolling on social media or binge watching Tv-shows, or you spend It doing something that excites you and stimulates your brain to make all your stress go away.

Let's call the first type of activities low density entertainment, and the second type high density entertainment.

Low density entertainment ( LDE )

LDE are activities that can distract you for a while but wont make you feel any better about yourself. How do you feel after scrolling on social media all day ? A feeling of guilt and shame that will only lower your self-esteem. LDE is dangerous because It doesn't require too much effort to achieve. You can just pick your phone an you are ready to go. Which makes It addictive.

LDE examples

  • Scrolling on social media
  • Oversleeping
  • Overeating

High density entertainment ( HDE )

HDE are activities that will stimulate your brain enough to take all your stress away and make you feel so much better about yourself. After doing such activities you feel rested, energized and confident. HDE can hardly be addictive because It requires a lot of resources ( energy, money, time ). You need to schedule It into your day and limit the time It takes because you don't have the choice.

  • Working out
  • Travel
  • Competitive games
  • New experiences
